Facebook = (usually) good, OCD = bad

So I agreed from the beginning that Facebook’ new “People You May Know” application was a bad bad idea. Now I have personal evidence of why I felt this. Logged in to find Sarah at the top of my list.

No kidding, d’ya think maybe I *might* know my maid of honour? Genius Facebook, you are soooo smart. Except for the whole “she is among the people who condone back-stabbing, verbal abuse, attempted murder, over-reaction, police-calling, defamation of character/libel/slander, taking-advantage-of-someone’s-mental-health-problems, power tripping, maliciousness” thing. I guess it can only be expected that a social networking website would not have any scope to take situations like this into account. But you’d think they would let you turn the damn thing OFF!

The reason she’s showing up is because I got a request from one of the YUM mommies. I’d taken most of them off because I couldn’t tolerate these kind of upsetting connections. And taken a break from my YUM group before (very hesitantly!) coming back this month when things seemed to be calmer. But this particular friend and I had reconnected over a particular tough situation she is going through and I really wanted to be able to support her through it in any way I can. So when I got the Facebook request, I said “yes” without even really thinking twice about it!

Two choices:
1. Delete this friend off of Facebook along with the other YUM mommies I’ve already deleted.
2. Keep her on my Facebook (and perhaps add a few of them back because I do really miss them), then just delete the “bad friends” who come up on Facebook’s “People you may know” feature as quick as they come through it and hope there are no other upsetting occurrences.

You’d think after obsessing about this for the past couple days I’d have made a decision by now.

Nope.

Because the kind of obsessing that OCD seems to force you to go through doesn’t seem the least bit constructive. :( Just spins you in circles around the same issues until you just want to throw up.

So I don’t know what I’m going to do.

Speaking of friends and issues and conflicts and the like, there’s a situation that happened in our tight-knit little “GHS gang” that I found out about last night and have to make some decisions about too. It’s sad, really, when stuff happens between/to friends. Our group has suffered and been broken up over the years as a result of other situations and it’s just awful for everyone.

On a positive note (’cause I realize all of this has been a vent/rant and probably a downer so thanks for reading if you did), I had a good day Friday and a pretty good day Saturday and had waaaay too much wine last night which was fun. :P

friends and blogs

So last night was Kat’s birthday dinner @ East Side’s. Yay for friends & food! :) We got to see Kat & Kurt, Karen & Ian (with Karen’s new hair complete, love the red streaks!), Mitch, and Nina & Paul! After dinner we hung out a little at Future Shop and at Chapters, too.

A strawberry daiquiri would’ve made the evening even more wonderful, but I’d taken the most heavy narcotic I had to try to get rid of a really bad “hatchet” headache that started on Friday night (so the alcohol with that possibly still in my system might’ve been a very bad combo). That headache had lasted 18 hours, so a little less than the 30-hour one I’d had earlier in the week. I absolutely hate how much these headaches put me out of commission!! At their worst, they are a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale (worse than labour pains!) and I feel like I don’t even want to move an inch. The headache is made worse by lying down, but sitting up is really straining as well, so it’s a “lesser of two evils” thing. Right now the headache is gone *knock wood*. Which is good because when the kids come home I have some Father’s Day plans in store for Paul, including cooking him a nice dinner. We’re going to take a rain check on our Father’s Day morning plans (including a nice brunch out) and do it next weekend instead.

So I posted some cute pics on Friday, but it was another reminder that I’m not quite finished tweaking the layout of my blog. I love the colours of this theme, but I want something that won’t have the pics overlapping the column to the right (perhaps I’ll find a theme which does not have a column to the right)!! At least Paul got the automatically-posts-to-LJ application fixed (yay! thanks hon!). But yes Karen I will look into finding out how to place the pics behind a “cut” for LJ, not sure how I do that from here though. :S Once I get my theme settled on, I will fix up my website accordingly, and will add my “blogroll”. Which includes my IRL friends as well as some popular blogs online. Also I registered a couple store names on CafePress and plan to open a couple blogging-themed stores so stay tuned for that. ;)

so many ideas, so little time! I think I need to focus less on the “incoming” (reading other people’s stuff online) and more on the producing (in my own little growing online world)! I got over my “blinkie-block” last week so hopefully that will inspire me to keep going. I have quite a few requests to fill for blinkies and siggies, and about a million plans for designs and blinkies, etc!!! Hopefully next week will be a productive one!

Fun Fair & Harmony’s Track-and-Field Meet

Fun Fair ~ Saturday June 7th

Here are the highlights! :)

First thing on the agenda was checking out the snake! Avery touched it, mommy declined! :P

Avery pays 2 tickets to get his face painted with little blue teardrops.

Harmony got her nails done (dark red, of course, rebel! :P )

“Fishing” (for little plastic yellow fish with a magnet on a string), he went back to do this twice!

Track-and-Field Meet ~ Wednesday, June 11th

Some of you will recognize the school this was held at! ;)

Since Harmony got 2nd place in ball toss @ her school, she got to go compete at the school board finals. She also got 2nd place in the 200m race, but for some reason didn’t get to compete in that event as well.

Practicing while waiting in line. She had agreed to “let” me go, but I had to promise not to cheer. Oh, and pretend not to know her. ((((rolls eyes)))) but I was “permitted” to take pics, so I’m happy with that! :P

Tossing her first ball!! what a power arm (she’s always been good at throwing things, no wonder I fear her teen years! lol)

The results?

She won 4th place!!! There were about 40 girls competing, from schools across the board! Her 2nd throw was over 22 feet!!!
