I’m eager to see the impact that yesterday’s a Day Without a Gay had. I doubt it was noticeable here in Ottawa where the city buses went on strike and the school buses were cancelled due to all the snow!!
I survived a full 30 hours without all my online “fixes” – message boards and blogs and web comics, etc.
And since part of the purpose of the day was to volunteer your time towards a worthy cause (which is actually not too much different from what I do every day, really), I devoted a portion of my time towards making some queer-positive mommy blinkies. I also made a little pride flag to display on every page, and have added the same to the new 2009 version of YM as well.
I’m feeling more inspired about my future career as a work-at-home mom. More and more, I think it can happen. I’ve been tidying up my little home office here, slowly but surely, and for the first time ever, have put up some of my “office” decorations that I normally bring to formal places of employment only.
One of Paul’s co-workers enjoyed her Christmas card so much that I might be doing a set of baby shower invitations for her. Even if I don’t end up doing it, it was still fun to dust off my little book of design samples.
I’m about to launch a new section of YoungMommies in 2009 – the YMBlogs. For now, myself and the other authors are getting ourselves organized, but feel free to come have a sneak peek:
