scrappy + tip for scraps

April 23rd, 2009 -- Posted in scrappy / stampy | Comments Off

Finished Avery’s “First Day of School” layout with my new SU supplies. Loving the rub-ons, they are just amazing and super easy! :)

Tip for scraps: You know when they give you an extra cup at Tim’s (either for Roll-up-the-rim if they’ve run out of your size or to further protect your fingers from a very hot beverage)?? Well, those extra cups are perfect for scraps. They’re clean so you can keep them around and the waxy inside makes everything slip easily into the garbage when you’re done. Just don’t confuse it with your actual cup of tea or coffee unless you want a mouthful of photo split backings! :P

I have my shopping list prepared for next week’s Stamp Club night… Some of the more “wishful” items on my list got passed over again in favour of the more practical supplies that I need for making cards for upcoming occasions. But, if I get a smaller stamp set + rub-ons for other phrases instead of a larger stamp set with lots of phrases, I can maybe get those funky clear envelopes this time around. :) And I think I will try the Heat and Stick powder to add some more glitter to my projects.

Happy scrappin’! :)

house inspection pics

Wow, busy day! Ironically, I think what my body needs after the whole house inspection process is a long hot soak in a big bathtub… like the one in the new house that I’ve been just *aching* to try. Good thing it’s finally almost time (I’m almost out of patience)! :)

Wanted to make sure to get pics up, I know our friends have been doing the waiting right along with us ;) lol

And so, I happily introduce you to our Dream Home…

A look at the completed house, all colours done.

Of course the first thing I wanted to see when we went inside was the kitchen backsplash!!

our last house visit

April 19th, 2009 -- Posted in domestic engineering, family, hill to haven | Comments Off

Well, tomorrow will be our last “visit” to the new house… Because after tomorrow, we’ll be going back to it as home owners (with keys in hand to fling open the doors with no supervision to run up and down the hallways and turn cartwheels in the kitchen…riiiiiiight). It feels like it’s Christmas Eve, except that you’ve been waiting 6 long years for this Christmas and it’s your first real one.

Although my countdown has been saying our house will be ready next week, it should technically be ready now. At our Pre-Delivery Inspection in the morning, we will go over the house to make sure everything is as it should be. I’m slightly anxious about the kitchen backsplash since we threw something custom at them (with a little sketch from our designer), but that’s the point of the PDI… if something is not quite right, they have time to fix it up.

So, I’ve got everything organized and ready to go for this meeting. There will be lots of info to try to retain about how things work!! Hopefully the years we’ve spent living in a garden home condominium will be a good foundation of knowledge to build on (we’re good with the furnance/water/electricity stuff).

We also have managed to secure a family doctor for Avery (who may take on the rest of the family over time if he’s able) and a family doctor who will take on Harmony and I (although she’s a little bit outside of Barrhaven)… We have a new dentist and optometrist… Our home insurance is set up… Moving truck is booked… Some boxes packed…

Am I forgetting anything? Oh yes, I need to add “freak out over how little time is left” to my To Do list. :P
