and on the domestic engineering front…

Warning: if you leave laundry in the washer for a long time (like, say, if you are busy coughing to death with a killer sore throat and/or stairs are extremely painful to go down and your laundry room is in the basement), they can really develop a disgusting smell. To re-wash or not to re-wash???

We painted the family room at the new house this past weekend. Well, OK the hubby did. But I helped! And my contributions were absolutely essential, I tell you! They must’ve saved him at least 5 minutes of work.

I also put together a little project I am making for Avery’s “jungle” room (in other words, the Diego-themed room that he wants that may still survive as a room decor after the Diego fascination has waned!). Curtain rod + fake plastic ferns ($4) + raffia ($2) + bits of window blinds (free, but only if you happen to have purchased window blinds…) = jungle finials! :)

I can just hear the lions roar! :P So far, no actual painting in the jungle room (or actually anywhere upstairs), but lots of ideas brewing… I went through our old cans of paint today and found a nice bright blue left over from Harmony’s “Pooh Bear”-themed room days that just might match the bright blue on the Diego stickers… hmm. While I might not want it on the walls, it may work to refinish a little table or chairs or something to infuse some playfulness into the space.

Can’t I just stick to decor and crafty stuff as my main household responsibility?? No? Surely these kids don’t need clean clothes, new shoes, or nutricious meals so long as they have albums upon albums of family photos (I’m feeling a wee bit self-deprecating lately, sorry to say…).

Well I do intend to clean the bathroom today. It’s literally been over a month, unless you count the time I made Avery wipe up the floor where his pee bounced off the seat (which he promptly informed me about as I was lying in bed waiting for him to go to sleep the other night).
