it’s curtains for you… er, for us…

It’s window treatment time, and wow have blinds and curtains changed since the last time I moved into a new place (so like 8 years). There are so many neat options now when it comes to dressing your windows, whether you’re looking for light-filtering or privacy or room-darkening. There are even cool temporary blinds that have self-stick adhesive on them – you just cut the paper to size and stick ‘em up there.

So for the most part, we’ve gone with curtains. Just simple ones (that are like $25 for a pair instead of $50 per panel – yikes!). For the family room, we went with some neat woven roller blinds. The kitchen patio doors will probably require some neat custom option, but we’ll wait on those for now.

Here are some pics…

Roller blinds in the family room, which took a lot of hard work on Paul’s part because the Home Depot salesperson in that department wasn’t well informed about them and wouldn’t cut them for us in store (or tell us how to cut them properly ourselves).

The white curtains we were using in Avery’s room were nice-looking (and recycled from our previous kitchen), but he was staying awake far too late into the bright summer nights we’re having! So we got these dark brown curtains that block the light very well!

These purple curtains for Harmony were from the same series as Avery’s and have a neat faux-suede texture to them. We had two of them up waiting for her approval but then went out to get a 2nd pair to go the whole way across. That’s a lot of fabric! Luckily, the purple sheers we already had underneath were $10 at IKEA. :)

Curtains chosen for the living room – dark brown with a neat pin-stripe detail. They go well with the cream sheers already up for privacy and with the new yellow pillow, which is close to the colour we may be painting the walls with.
