stamped cards: fall & thanksgiving

September 10th, 2009 -- Posted in scrappy / stampy, work/career | Comments Off

I pulled out my Harvest stamp set yesterday to create some fall and thanksgiving cards… I remembered the masking technique from last fall’s class (the one that prompted me to get the set in the first place!) and practiced that again! :)

For most cards, I used Stampin’ Up papers and inks from the Earth Elements series. For the inked leaf, I used my SU blender pen but the inks were from ColorBox. Each card had at least a couple special techniques used, like embellishments, paper-piercing, or textured materials – I love that my SU scalloped circle punch can punch through a thin layer of cork!!!

Here’s what I came up with…

And the winners are…

August 28th, 2009 -- Posted in blinkies & other cuteness, contests & freebies, work/career | Comments Off

The winner of the 3rd place prize is…. #6! Amanda W, who chose Chocolate Raspberry as her fave colour palette! :) She will get a coupon for $5 off her own baby birth plaque (or image).

The winner of the 2nd place prize is… #7! Kat (owntwohands), who chose Fresh Citrus (or variation of!) as her fave! She has won a birth image which will be personalized with her baby’s info!

And the grand prize winner, who will receive a free baby birth plaque is…. #11! Somer, who also chose Chocolate Raspberry as her favourite, as her daughter’s room is pink and brown!!! :) She has won a free mounted plaque, with the customized design image with her daughter’s birth info, including free shipping! :)

I’ll be getting in touch with the winners to e-mail me with the birth information of the babies that their plaques will be for. Please send me the baby’s name, birth date, birth time (if you like), weight and length, and birth place (or hospital, or whatever else you would rather include on the last line).

Thanks to everyone who entered, and thanks for helping launch my new line of unique baby gifts :) Thanks also to my 2 kiddos, who helped pick the winning numbers! :)

Since I like to on a policy of “there are no losers, only 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. winners”, I will be offering all the other entrants of the contest a coupon for $2 an order of a baby birth plaque! :)

To use a coupon, please be sure you e-mail me directly (at my KStar address) to arrange your order instead of using the shopping cart on the site. You can check out colour palettes there though, and also soon there will be photos available of the finished product (with baby info blurred out of course). I’ll be creating one for my son this weekend as well as one for the top winner, so if you’d like to get your order in, it’s a great time for that! :)

new on KStar

Guess what? I received my Vendor Permit for my KStar business. So now I have that, my GST # and info, and the Master Business Licence I received in May when I started the registration process. Very exciting.

I’ve been working on a new product idea for the past few weeks and it should be released fairly soon. I may need feedback from pregnant moms and moms-to-be AND may need a couple moms to be the first recipients of these unique baby gifts so stay tuned for details and a possible blog give-away. ;)

Also new on KStar this week are updated versions of my Breastmilk Medals. I’ve been meaning to get around to adding medals depicting moms with realistic skin tones so that is being checked off my To Do list. And actually even the “Caucasian mom” version has been updated with a peachy tone instead of if-vampires-could-breastfeed white.
