new blinkie batch: baby by month

October 18th, 2010 -- Posted in blinkies & other cuteness, work/career | Comments Off

This blinkie batch was a long time coming, and I’m glad to have finally had enough creative “blinkie-making” energy in me to finish up the set of Baby Month blinkies I’d started to refresh my old-style 150×20 set…

So the fall months (the “Fall Mix” set of oranges and browns) were already complete, and I’d done a few simple blinkies for May through August, but it’s now safe to say that there are blinkies available for all months of the year, some with different new style options as well.

Here are the latest additions to the set…

Spring Months:
(”Green Mix”)

Summer Months: (”Red Mix”)

Winter Months:

The whole set of Baby Month-by-Month blinkies can be found here (a new page! the other 2 “old style” batches have been moved to their own pages). The matching Due Date Month-by-Month blinkies can be found here.

In other KStar Design news, please note that I’m not currently taking any new graphic/web design clients or starting new projects in that area OR accepting any blinkie requests (I just haven’t been able to keep up with anything lately and don’t want to add more to the pile!).

However, I do still have Hand-crafted Cards and Baby Birth Plaques up for sale on the site and will be adding new cards soon. I’ve updated the index page of the site to reflect the change in focus of the company, which may or may not be continuing on as an official entity after this calendar year.

All for now, so enjoy the blinkies and stay tuned for more coming soon! I have 2 different batches to add to the site and then blog about, so hopefully I can squeeze those in sometime soon in between the cards and other projects I’m posting about. ;)

new blinkies: pink mix for babies ♥

May 10th, 2010 -- Posted in blinkies & other cuteness | Comments Off

I have not fallen off the face of the planet, I swear. I actually have put in quite a few hours over the past couple weeks designing things, but then haven’t had time to blog about them! Wish I had time for both! I find when I’m feeling creative, I just have to grab that urge and run with it as much as I can. It is much more rare these days unfortunately, especially when one considers I also have to be feeling up to sitting up and putting any ideas and thoughts into a real tangible result.

Here’s one of the many things added to the Freebie and Blinkie collections on my KStar site over the past little while…

This “pink mix” style of blinkie base was used to create a number of different-themed blinkies, including:

2010 Mommy Blinkies

“I ♥ Baby” Blinkies &

Month-of-birth Baby Blinkies

Lots more to come, so please stay tuned! and if you don’t want to wait to see the new designs posted on my blog, you can always check out the front page of KStarDesign.com to see what’s new in the “What’s New” section! ;)

angel memories

November 16th, 2009 -- Posted in angels, family, pain / disability | Comments Off

Every year, we take a moment to acknowledge our angel babies that we lost through miscarriage.

This year we had another family over for supper so we had their little girl help light with lighting the candles along with my two. 3 candles for 3 angels so it worked out. Also, her mom and I were pregnant at the same time and when she was born (in October 2002) it was around the time my 1st angel would’ve been born.

Which partly explains why we always take the time to remember our miscarried babies on the same day each year – October 25th. Our first lost baby was due on October 5th and for my 3rd and 4th pregnancies, I started to miscarry them on October 25th (one year apart).

Another annual tradition linked with our candle-lighting is a donation made to March of Dimes. When we were losing our 2nd baby, I found out that they offered a free grief package with helpful info and I ordered one to be mailed. It was so helpful during those few weeks following the loss of our second baby.

This year, the March of Dimes has started a campaign where little bracelets can be created in honour of lost angel babies. So for our regular donation I created a bracelet for this second baby, willow. Maybe next year, I can create another bracelet for our third baby, sienna.

If you’re a regular charity-giver, please consider the March of Dimes as a possible source of your givings. And if you’d like to donate in willow’s name, here is her bracelet:
