blog news: a new name

February 4th, 2010 -- Posted in EZ-blog Oven | Comments Off

It’s time for a new name to reflect this blog’s changed identity. It has grown into something different than it originally started out as, so now it will have a new title to go along with that! I’m excited to introduce you to… the “Creating Kris” blog, where a young mom shares her creative projects: scrapbooking, stamped cards, home decor, free blinkies, etc.!

What I like the most about the new name is it’s dual meaning… Not only am I a Kris who creates, I’m a Kris who is being created. I grow and learn and discover, and my friends (online and off!) are part of that process. :)

Wondering why the change? I’ll explain…

scrapbooking the last pages of 2007

I know things’ve been a little quiet on the blogging side of things, but I assure you I’ve been turning my creative inclinations towards other passions lately and it has not all gone to waste. :) I took advantage of a good sale to print out nearly 300 digital pictures and have been working at getting my albums sorted out.

As a first completed project of the year, the “Family 2007″ layouts are now totally scrapbooked. This album (or rather section of an album; it shares space with 2008) was mostly complete for the longest time even before 2009 rolled around. Then I’d somehow skipped over November and December ‘07 in favour of jumping right into the beginning of 2008 and ending up scrapbooking from January to June of ‘08 in one big cropping weekend in October (which I paid for dearly in pain afterwards due to a fire alarm!).

In my recent album organizing efforts, the unfinished area stood out as a priority. So I finally chose some digital pics to print out from those couple months and got to work…

I finished the title bar to the first 1/2 layout of November (Paul’s 27th birthday), and then added another 1-page layout (of Stella’s 3rd birthday) on the other side. On the next pages, I did a 2-page spread with the title “Here comes Winter” and I think it turned out really nicely…

For the final layout of 2007, I did a 1-page layout which was kept to just one un-cropped photo and a block of journaling – all about my experience of being “Always behind the camera!” and why I love scrapbooking for my family. :)

thinking out loud…

May 2nd, 2009 -- Posted in EZ-blog Oven, blinkies & other cuteness, scrappy / stampy, work/career | Comments Off

K, so BlinkieMommies and MommyDreaming are expiring soon. And I was testing something out for my SIL and “broke” MommyD until today when I noticed and fixed it. Ooops.

So I’m thinking of moving them or something. And also not keeping “Blinkie”mommies since it limits itself to blinkies. I need something cute and mommy-ish….

And yes, I’ve checked and cutemoms.com is not only already registered, it’s totally not the right site I want to have anything close to the spelling of (so cutemommies.com would also be out). Hey, mommyish.com is available. :P

I definitely need to keep YM, no question. I really need a professional site for my graphics design so I need to keep KStar or something similar. I’d really like to keep Krismom. And there’s a new .com I would like to get for the family that’s cute and short but I don’t know what I’d keep there other than our photo gallery (which I’d like to take off YM).

OK so here are all the things I want to “share” on the web… how many ways can they be grouped together? What’s the best way to group them?

- personal blog entries
- public blog entries
- blinkies
- other graphics and cute things
- professional graphics design portfolio
- family pictures
- pics of scrapbooking layouts, cards, stamping projects, etc.
- pics of home decor & design
- a place to chat for moms of angels
- a place to chat for TTC moms, home-design moms, WAHM, bloggers, “mompreneurs”
