Knitted Baby Booties

October 8th, 2011 -- Posted in knitty/stitchy, pics | No Comments »

So after knitting my very first baby garment (an adorable hooded sweater), the next baby gift I wanted to make was a pair of knitted baby booties…

I know it seems a little backwards, having done a really difficult project and then moving to a more simple project like booties, but for me it was just about the order of the babies being born and just going ahead with what I wanted to make! I didn’t want to be limited or slowed down by a difficult pattern. If I see something cute, I want to be able to make it, and I’ll try to just learn whatever techniques I need to learn to do that. It’s just the way I’ve always been and so far I haven’t hit too many road blocks in accompishing anything I set my mind to. :P

My first pair of booties turn out very well, although I found they didn’t go up as high as I would’ve liked. So I ended up modifying the “Small” size version of all future patterns to have higher sock sections. Since knitting that first pair of booties, I’ve now created a half dozen more pairs!

New Blinkies: I Love Knitting

April 12th, 2011 -- Posted in blinkies & other cuteness | 3 Comments »

Don’t you love it when two fave hobbies intersect? I already had the pleasure of creating some “I love scrapbooking blinkies“… So I figured with my new hobby of knitting, I should create some blinkies for that as well.

For these I wanted to create, of course, a little ball of wool and a set of knitting needles. It was very fun to design and assemble in the graphic sense… and I’m happy with how they turned out.

The first batch for this theme is in 150×20 size (”regular”/small size), and includes 14 blinkies. Next I would probably consider doing the 150×40 “Big Blinkie” size. There are two different background “blinking” patterns (light and dark), a couple different hearts. The colours are purple and teal, a fave combination of mine lately that I have used in knitting too!! And as much as I love the wool ball, it’s not in all the blinkies. Here’s a few of them:

The rest can be found on this new page on the KStar Freebies site, as well as the codes to copy and paste:

Stay tuned as I’ll definitely be creating other hobby-related blinkies for crafting activities like Baking, Crochet, Card-making, and of course Stamping!! And if anyone has any suggestions feel free to drop me a line! :)

new squiggle blinkies: baby, TTC, pregnancy, multiples

I’ve added another batch of blinkies to one of my fave blinkie styles (in the 150×20 collections): my Squiggle Blinkies. There are now so many, I’ve had to stretch the collection to a second page. The new blinkies have added colours: a light green, a darker pink (than the original light pink), and a darker blue (than the original light blue).

Most of the blinkies created were sprinkled into categories such as TTC (Hoping for a Boy and Hoping for a Girl), Baby Dust, Pregnancy**, and Twins/Triplets/Mulitples, which have more pages now added to accommodate the larger number of blinkies!

Visit this page for the complete listing of all blinkie pages (of 150×20 size blinkies).
